The election's in the bag? - My Thoughts Today
An ill-used association of words and pictures
The election's in the bag?
A dangerous thing to think so far out from a general election, but today David Cameron will deliver a speech in Birmingham which outlines the clear blue water that many in the Tory party have been calling for ever since he became leader. It's a good read and speaks for itself.

today I am mostly: Impressed
the music in my head: In A Rut-The Ruts-Something That I Said: Best Of The Ruts

Yay! I hope you're right! I want Labour out - in a big way, part after scrapping the 10% tax bracked - and the Tories (not Lib Dems or another party) in! ; )

Well with Nick Clegg announcing that the Lib Dems will support a Tory minority government in finance bills and votes of no confidence, and Alex Salmond offering to reciprocate the arrangement in the Scottish Parliament it looks like nobody wants to be associated with Labout anymore :)

The real test will be Thursday's by-election in Crewe and Nantwich. Labour is defending an 8% majority in the seat, which was held by Gwyneth Dunwoody from its creation in 1983. If Crewe turns blue then Gordon Brown will have real problems in his own party and even if he manages to hang on for the full term it could leave his legislative programme in tatters.

More worryingly for Labour, if the current Tory lead in the opinion polls holds or even increases in the run-up to the next election they're likely to be out of government for a generation. Of course that's good news to those of us who think they're an expensive vice that the UK electorate should kick permanently ;p
